The National Casino Forum’s chief executive, Tracy Damestani, has been named as one of the 10 most influential women in the industry.

Tracy has been included in the inaugural iGaming Business Most Influential Women list because of her ‘vociferous’ support for the diversity and inclusion agenda in the casino sector and her work with the Industry Group For Responsible Gambling.

The iGaming Most Influential list has been devised to raise the profile of women in the industry, showcase what they are achieving and how rewarding a career in the gambling industry can be. The 2018 gender pay gap reporting revealed that women remain under-represented at the top of the gambling business and the list aims to redress the balance.

The judges were impressed by the National Casino Forum’s initiative, launched in 2017, to encourage casino operators to bring more women into the boardroom, which they said would not only have an impact in the land-based sector, but would also have repercussions across the online world.

They quoted a 2017 blog in which she wrote: “I’d love to see the casino sector in the vanguard of reform within the gaming industry, setting an example that others follow. We don’t want to look like an all-male industry at a senior level, nor do we want to confine women to ‘soft’ roles, such as HR and marketing”.

The first diversity workshop, devised with the Portas Institute, was held at the Institute of Directors and proved very successful. The second workshop, which will focus on gender and BME biases in the workplace, will be held on September 25th for middle management staff.
